The Athlete of the Week this week is Lucy Wundrow.
Cross Country Coach Nick Mahr shared more on Wundrow’s accomplishments.
“Lucy dropped a minute off her season best time to run 22:21 at the Owen-Withee Invite,” he said. “She is a senior leader on the team and also has a role in the upcoming drama club performance of Mary Poppins Jr and is also an active member of the FFA and a great student at SBHS.”
Wundrow placed 10th overall at Loyal/Greenwood Sept. 1 with a time of 24:16, helping Stanley-Boyd win the girls team championship there. The Orioles finished with 29 points, edging Fall Creek, which scored 32.
A cross country runner since freshman year, Wundrow put together a strong junior cross country season in 2025, regularly running in the 22-minute range. Among her results were an eighth-place finish at Neillsville in 22:44, a 17th-place finish at Cadott in 22:40.7, a 12th-place finish at Owen-Withee in 22:53 and an 11th-place finish at Thorp in 22:10. She placed 17th at the Cloverbelt Conference meet with a time of 22:29.7. Wundrow recorded her fastest published 5K time of the season at the WIAA Division 2 sectional in Rice Lake, finishing in 21:46.8.
Wundrow also competed during the 2024 cross country season. At the WIAA Division 3 Cadott sectional, she finished 40th with a time of 23:37.4 as Stanley-Boyd placed seventh in the girls team standings.
In addition to cross country, Wundrow competes in distance events for the Stanley-Boyd track and field team. During the spring 2026 track season, her track and field performances included a time of 2:52.94 in the 800 meters, 6:21.55 in the 1600 meters and 13:23.09 in the 3200 meters.
With time left in the season, Wundrow isn’t done yet.
