A crash taking place June 5 at 2:45 p.m. has resulted in injuries but no fatalities, after a driver traveling southbound on County Highway G pulled out onto Highway 29 and collided with a vehicle traveling westbound. The driver of the vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 29 was later transported by EMS Ground to St. Joseph’s Hospital.

According to the crash report filled out by deputy Ray Duncan and made available by the Chippewa County Sheriu's Ovce, a blue 2006 Honda Odyssey driven by Shirley Lee Conley of Fairchild failed to yield right of way while traveling southbound on County G, being struck by a 2008 Toyota 4Runner traveling westbound on State Highway 29 and driven by Laurie Hirn Beggs of Escanaba MIchigan, who was determined to have made no contributing action to the accident. Conley had reportedly seen Begg’s vehicle but thought that she had time to cross the highway when she pulled out.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene by Breezy Acres, with Begg’s vehicle sustaining disabling damage to the front, both right and left. Conley sustained minor injury in the crash which saw front air bag deployment in the Odyssey and was cited for Operating After Suspension. Beggs was not cited in the crash.

Both drivers were insured and wearing their seatbelts in the crash that took place June 5 at 2:45 p.m. between Stanley and Boyd. Neither was ejected, with drugs and alcohol not present nor factors in the crash.
