Gathering Saturday, March 11 off County Highway N, the Stanley Sno-Chargers and members of other snowmobile clubs dedicated the Dean Johnson Memorial Bridge on Corridor 27 Trail South. Johnson died November 12, 2020 at the age of 66.
Remembered at the Saturday bridge dedication, Johnson served as Chippewa County Director of the Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs (AWSC) for 26 years, being treasurer of the Chippewa County Snowmobile Organization for 25 years before this.
Johnson was highly active in many local clubs, buying his first snowmobile in 1969 and known for a dedication to Ski-Doo snowmobiles, even being recognized once as one of the most loyal Ski-Doo owners in the world.
Outside of snowmobiling, Johnson grew up south of town graduated from Stanley-Boyd High School and went on to receive an automotive technician degree, spending 41 years in his chosen career field, 35 of them at the same employer.
The memorial bridge is located on the Corridor 27 Trail and can be seen from the road off County Road N, on the west side of the road shorter after it turns north from the MM road connection.
