THE LIBRARY

BY D.R. MOON LIBRARY DIRECTOR ELIZABETH MINIATT

Hello Stanley community, and welcome back to our monthly library column! The library board meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 5PM in the lower level of the library. The meetings are open to the public and all are welcome to attend. If you are unable to make it to the meeting, you can find the latest news and updates I share with the board each month here.

Our library’s summer learning program is open now until August 12th! Our theme is Oceans of Possibilities as we invite you to embark on your own voyage of reading and discovery this summer. Join us at the library every other Thursday afternoon starting June 2nd for fun activities including watercolor painting and a visit from Stella the Sturgeon. Our digital programs are once again through Page Turner Adventures with videos Monday- Friday starting June 13th featuring comedy theater, crafts, games, authors, field trips, and more. Finally, don't forget to check out the Stanley-Boyd School’s Camp Read S’More Bookmobile at one of its four local stops every Thursday this summer until August 11th. For all the details, check out stanleylibrary. org/summer-program and visit stanleylibrary.beanstack.org to register!

Other programs this month include Storytime on the 9th and 23rd at 10:30AM, Oceans of Possibilities watercolor painting on the 16th at 2:30PM, Teen Creative Writer's Guild on the 16th at 4PM, Creative Writer’s Guild at 2PM on the 21st, and Oceans of Possibilities visit from Stella the Sturgeon on the 30th at 1:30PM. Our book club is currently reading The 19th Wife and will meet next month. Check out our website, or pick up a calendar from the library, for the full details on current programs.

Monthly library fact: Last year D.R. Moon Library patrons borrowed 5,189 items from other libraries and we lent 5,965 items to our patrons and other libraries. Since our library is a member of MORE, our patrons have access to more than 1.5 million items from the 50+ libraries that make up the consortium. Patrons can easily search for these items using the MORE online catalog; if a MORE library doesn’t have something, we can likely get the item through WISCAT, a sharing resource among the broader Wisconsin library community. The current Explore MORE program, which I have mentioned previously in this col- umn, is an euort to help MORE library patrons connect with the other libraries and communities in our consortium.

Do you know anyone looking for a summer job? The library is seeking an organized and detailed-oriented person to fill a sub stitute position. This is an on-call position with an average of 12– 14 hours per month. Great for someone with a flexible schedule, such as a retired person or highschooler. For all the details and to fill out an application please visit stanleylibrary.org/jobs/. The library is open for you Monday through Friday from 10AM-6PM. Come in any time to use the computers, find a book or movie, borrow a Wi-Fi hotspot or iPad, or use our print- er to fax, scan, and copy. We are also ouering curbside pick-up to those who wish to use that option and home delivery for the elderly and home-bound. Please note the library will be closed Monday, July 4th for the holiday. Happy Summer, everyone!
