High Blood Pressure Information for Blood Donors: Your health is an important part of your donor journey and key to continuing to help others in need. The American Red Cross is committed to helping you maintain your well-being by providing valuable health information throughout the donation process.
Your vitals from each donation are recorded in your secure online donor record, helping you easily track your hemoglobin levels, pulse rate and blood pressure. This can help you monitor for health conditions such as high blood pressure – also known as hypertension, allowing you to view your blood pressure trends over time and share this information with your health care provider. Donate blood to help others and yourself.
The Stanley-Boyd Community Red Cross Blood Drive is scheduled for Thursday, May 15, 12 to 6pm at the Stanley Community Center in Chapman Park. Your donation makes a difference – schedule an appointment now by calling Donella Christianson, 715-644-3638, Red Cross, 800-733-2767, or visit RedCrossBlood.org.
The March drive fell short of the goal so we need to make every effort to meet or exceed the goal for the May 15 drive. At the time of this writing, there are still 26 appointment slots that need to be filled in order to even have a fairly good chance of meeting the goal. There always are deferrals with every drive, which have been averaging around ten, plus cancellations and no shows. This all plays a part in hindering the reaching of the goal.
Please take time to help someone who depends on you to continue enjoying life, whether it be an accident victim or someone fighting a disease, both of whom depend on you, the healthy blood donor. Make your appointment now! Walk-ins are always needed, but may be asked to wait a long time or to come back later. Donate blood on May 15.
