A former Madison native, Peters holds a degree from UW Stevens Point where he majored in Environmental Law Enforcement and Wildlife Management. His first law enforcement position was at Devils Lake State Park as a Park Ranger. He then was employed by the Wisconsin Dells Police Department for approximately one year before securing a position with the Chippewa County Sheriff ’s Department.

Petersexclaimed,“Iamhappytobehere. IenjoytheStanley area, its people and what the area has to offer.” He cited his main interest as bow hunting, duck hunting, ice fishing, and gardening. Both he and his wife are members of the Chippewa Bow Hunters Club. “My wife is actually the better bow hunter of the two of us”, he said. “She keeps the freezer full!”.

He said he likes to travel west on hunting trips and also to Northern Minnesota, preferably Upper Red Lake to ice fish.

Throughout recent years, eastern Chippewa County has seen a number of conservation wardens come and go. Peters indicated he plans on being around for a while. “My wife Amanda is employed by the Eau Claire County Land Conservation Department”, he said. “That gives us further incentive to stay in this area”, he added.
