Busy week last week with three matches,” head girls golf coach Devon Wenndt said of the weeks’ play. With golf at Mondovi, Whispering Pines, and up at Bloomer Monday, the long story short is that it’s been a ride.
“I could tell the girls were ready for a weekend after Thursday’s match at Whispering Pines,” Wenndt said. “A bit of an emotional roller coaster on Thursday as well. We got off to a fantastic start and just couldn’t keep that pace down the stretch.”
Wenndt said that Kylie Weiland had posted her best ever 9 hole score on that day, while a very respectable 41 netted Emme Felmlee a 2nd place finish, putting her behind Belle Kongshaug of Colfax,.
“I think we’re pretty well settled into 3rd place for the year,” Wenndt said. “I’m not sure the math works out for us to finish anywhere else. We’re hoping for a positive result in Bloomer today as well as at our Conference Championship at Lake Hallie Golf Club on Thursday. With a couple of good rounds we might see one or two of our girls bump themselves up from Honorable Mention to 2nd Team All Conference, so there’s still plenty to play for.”
