Chapman Park in Stanley usually closes at 11 p.m. per the official sign, but with a recent variance sought from the Council by leatherworker and Yee Haw Fun show coordinator Bonnie Weber of Bar BK Leatherworks, that will be extended until midnight for select nights this summer and fall—not to mention May 21.
“I am asking for a variance at Chapman Park to be able to be there until 12 am for the Yee Haw fun show,” Weber writes in a letter dated for April to the Common Council, saying that the shows will start at 6:30 p.m. after she arrives earlier.
Listed among the dates for a variance are the following: May 21; June 25; July 16; August 1; August 20; September 12 and October 10. August 1, Septemebr 12, and October 10 will have a 10:00 a.m. start, with the others following a 6:30 p.m. schedule.
Not contained in the letter but announced via social media are the following age divisions for the shows: 10 and under; 11 to 17; 18 to 34; and 35 plus.
“Remember social distancing,” the announcement tells fun show participants.
Meanwhile returning to the Council, Weber writes that she will hand in a copy of insurance before the shows start and make sure that every thing is picked up after each event, then going on.
“I am also doing the Tuesday night open arena, which I will oversee or an associate,” she says. “It starts at 6:00 p.m. and goes until dark.” A graphic included with the show materials has additional information.
“If you are not afraid of the speed, you are not going fast enough!” it says as a rider does a sharp horse turn, with dirt flying.
The sought for variance was approved upon confirmation that Weber had insurance, which Clerk Nicoler Thiel said was at the City office.
