Evelyn Alma Weyenberg 1925 – 2023

Evelyn Alma Weyenberg, 97 of Boyd, passed away peacefully at her home on January 2, 2023 with her family by her side. She was born at the family home in the town of Delmar on September 19, 1925 to Frank and Clara (Kuehni) Bernklau. Evelyn attended Black Creek Valley grade school and Stanley High School. After High School she worked at the Blue Moon Cheese Factory and at the Victory Memorial Hospital-Stanley.

On May 27, 1947 she was united in marriage to Jake Weyenberg at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church-Boyd where she was a lifelong member. The couple farmed in the town of Delmar before retiring and moving to Boyd. Jake passed away in 1985.

Evelyn liked listening to country and old time music; especially the Molly B Polka show, a good game of smear, boat rides, parades, her Miss Kitty cat and watching Packer games with family. She especially enjoyed family gatherings.

She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Dennis) Jouppi of Bloomer, Darlene Weyenberg of Boyd, Jacki (Steve) Peloquin of Chippewa Falls, James (Claire) of Boyd, June (William) Burich of Salem, OR, Thomas of Chippewa Falls, Mary (Larry) Sorenson of Waupun, William of Inver Grove Heights, MN, Patricia Hatfield of Cadott and Frank of Miami Beach, Florida, 21 grandchildren, Kelly, Barry, Russ, Marci, Heather, Krissy, John, Brenda, Julie, Scott, Jessica, Nicole, Natasha, Ben, Mike, Kim, Jenna, Megan, Morgon, Kayla, and Jamie, 34 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild and her sister, Betty Plombon of Stanley. Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jake, grandchildren, Joe Arneson, Mathew Weyenberg, Kyle Ryba and Jayden Sorenson, and her brothers, Harold, Harlyn and Gary Bernklau.

A funeral mass was held at 11:30 AM on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church-Boyd with Father William Felix officiating. Burial followed in St. Joseph’s Cemetery-Boyd. A visitation was held Thursday from 9am until time of departure to the church at the Plombon Funeral Home-Stanley.
