The Gilman Street explosion last Monday continues to be under investigation, with little word on the explosion’s cause. Initial reports from the page out call to Boyd Fire at 8:47 p.m. on Aug. 3 reported possible explosive material or potassium gunpowder on seats. Boyd Ambulance and Stanley First Responders were paged out earlier at 8:31 p.m. for a reported leg injury from an explosion in a fire pit behind 732 Gilman Street. The home is registered to Kyle and Carrie Pahl on Chippewa County GIS, with three people treated for non-life threatening injuries in relation to the call. The area remained closed Tuesday, Aug. 4 as officials worked on site to investigate.
The Stanley Police Department shared more later in a press release:
On Monday, August 3, 2026, at approximately 8:30 pm, the Stanley Police Department was dispatched to 732 Gilman Street in the City of Stanley for the report of an explosion at the residence with multiple people injured. Three individuals were medically treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation remains ongoing, and any future criminal charges will be referred to the Chippewa County District Attorney’s Office. Any future media releases related to this case may be issued in the event charges are filed.
The Stanley Police Department is leading this investigation and is assisted by the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation. We would like to thank the following agencies for their assistance:
