The Gilman Village Board met Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 5 p.m. in the village hall. Prominent on the night’s agenda was approval of the village’s Wastewater Treatment Facility Plan by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, while a floodplain discussion was also held with the DNR.
Last updated in 2024, the village was instructed to provide pictures of everything in the park after January 5, 1989, when FEMA created the floodplain. Proof was later provided as required, as the village is in the National Food Insurance Program.
As for the Wastewater Treatment Facility Plan, a DNR letter included with the meeting packet noting concurrence with the following aspects of the Wastewater Treatment Facility Plan. Selected collection system upgrades including the following:

The project also includes implementation of Water Quality Trading.
Also from Sept. 9, the village board approved the annual siren inspection, while clean up in the village will be Monday, Oct. 5 or Oct. 12, dependent on GFL. Brought forward from August, there was no update on the campground bridge.
In budget news meanwhile the 2027 budget is being prepared, with a finance committee meeting Oct. 12 and draft budget for publication later in October. The mill rates are expected to be finalized Dec. 9.
Last but not least, the Tree Board report shows $1,259 spent of a $2,000 budget, with the remaining end balance to be move to the Emerald Ash Borer Restricted Fund. Memorial trees will be planted next spring and Clerk Grunseth is applying for the Urban Forestry Start Up next fall, which is a matching grant.
The next Gilman village board meeting is Wednesday, Oct. 14 at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
