The Stanley-Boyd girls golf team wrapped up a busy regular season with several Orioles earning CloverCroix Conference honors.
The Orioles faced a demanding final week that included 18 conference holes Monday, a regional preview meet Tuesday and the Conference Championship on Thursday.
Stanley-Boyd girls golf head coach Devon Wenndt praised the way the team responded to the schedule and finished the regular season.
“Proud of how our ladies finished out the regular season,” Wenndt said.
Leading the way among Stanley-Boyd’s conference award winners was Caitlen Ketterhagen, who earned First Team All-Conference honors. Vaida Chwala and Vivian Morrow meanwhile were both named Honorable Mention All-Conference.
The end of the regular season also provided an opportunity for Wenndt to recognize seniors Giana Dahm, Megan Potaczek, Emily Brenner and Chloe Isenberger.
Wenndt said Dahm and Potaczek were both first-year golfers who brought energy and positive attitudes to the program.
“I think they might have a bit of regret for not deciding to make the jump over to golf a little earlier in their high school careers,” he said.
Brenner and Isenberger, meanwhile, have been part of the Stanley-Boyd golf program since their freshman seasons.
“Hard to say enough good things about these two,” Wenndt said. “They embody everything the game of golf represents: hard work, improvement, camaraderie, and how many other core values.”
Both Brenner and Isenberger are also balancing golf with significant roles in the school musical, Mary Poppins Jr. Wenndt said the two go directly from golf practice to play practice while continuing to excel in the classroom.
“Both of them have significant roles in our school musical as well, which is coming up in a few weeks,” Wenndt said. They move straight from golf practice to play practice each and every day and still find time to be model students. It’s been a blessing, honor, and privilege to coach them for four years as I have.”
