The Stanley-Boyd Orioles girls track and field team finished as conference runner-up at the Cloverbelt Conference meet, placing second behind Bloomer and tying McDonell.
Jocelyn Hager led the Orioles with a conference championship in the triple jump, clearing 33 feet, 10 inches. Macie LaGrander earned conference runner-up honors in the long jump at 16 feet, 9.75 inches, while the 4x800-meter relay team of Mariah Wehling, Lucy Wundrow, Lillian Fitzl and Ava Kempf placed second in 11:17.52.
“The girls had a good meet,” Orioles varsity head track coach Robert Seidl said. “We were really competing for second place and we finished as Conference Runner Up.” Seidl said the team did not have many personal records, but “ran competitively” and did enough to share second place with McDonell.
On the boys side, Stanley-Boyd placed seventh overall, Hunter Gadke repeated as conference champion in the pole vault, clearing 10 feet, 6 inches. Beckitt Kohl added a runner-up finish in the high jump at 5 feet, 6 inches.
Seidl said injuries and low numbers have made the boys season challenging, but praised Kohl’s night, noting he also posted personal records in the 110 hurdles and 300 hurdles. The Orioles now turn their attention to the regional meet at Waupaca, where Seidl said the girls have a shot at a regional title and both teams hope to advance athletes to the Chilton Division 2 Sectional May 29 at Chilton..
