Grace Community Bible Church will soon have a new home north of Stanley.
Meeting Sunday, August 24 at 12 p.m. in a gravel parking lot, the congregation broke ground on a new facility, to be located at 9407 County Highway H north of Stanley.
Pastor Loyed Arnold and others gave brief remarks before turning shovels, the ceremony cut short by rain.
The well attended groundbreaking saw a banner with Psalm 127:1 ; “Unless the Lord builds the house its builders labor in vain.”
Dating to late 2020, Grace Community Bible Church held its first service Feb. 7, 2021 at 219 South Broadway Street. In 2022 the congregation began a building fund and later in 2022 started talking about a long range plan, praying on either a full-time pastor or a building. Shortly after this a family donated land and $100,000 for a new church. This was considered a sign in the decision to build.
Located at 9407 County Highway H, the new building will be 5,768 square feet and seat 141 people. It will have a large fellowship area, along with kitchen, nursery, and classrooms for a Wednesday night program. Once complete the new church building will also have a pastor’s office, secretary’s office, two large storage areas, and a car port.
The congregation currently meets at 1418 Pine Street in Stanley. Tyler Ewer serves as associate pastor.
