A possible new tradition or else stopgap measure for COVID, with things kicking off at Oriole Park this Friday, scheduled to start at 6 p.m. With a total of 75 graduates to send off from the Class of 2021, the outdoor location was chosen by the School Board as being more amenable to festivities, even as COVID restrictions are being decreased with a rise in vaccination.

With most graduates who stated their future plans in a questionnaire either going to university or getting technical college training in a trade, a fuller listing of graduate pictures and plans will be carried in next week's newspaper. In the meantime, we have a FAFSA promissory note heads up for graduates: read the fine print, if you haven't already.

Government loans are preferrable to private ones for their mostly fixed interest rates, but buried in the this-for-that contract may be a phrase similar to this one: "I acknowledge that I have read this, even if I was told I didn't need to." It was when we went through the process anway.

In the meantime, watch out for the flood of credit card offers, as lenders do expect to get paid, and once you turn 18 you're considered a legally independent and responsible adult fully liable for all debts Otherwise congratulations!
