“Two point four, 2021 graduation date May 28 at 6:00 p.m.,” school board President Bob Geist announced after principal Dean Lew had finished the presentation on AGR test scores.
“We had talked about this at the board conversation last week,” district superintendent Jeff Koenig led things out, “just that May 28 would be our graduation date.” As part of an ongoing effort to improve in line with public criticism and expectations, the school board has been meeting to discuss, although no action is taken at these self-assigned board improvement meetings. Going on at the regular meeting to say that the 2021 graduation for Stanley-Boyd would be at Oriole Park, Koenig put forth May 29 as the rain date, a Saturday. Jeff Boie motioned to approve May 28, as the official graduation date for Stanley-Boyd, with a second from Toni Seidl. “Motions been made by Mr. Boie and seconded by Mrs. Seidl to approve the graduation date for Friday, May 28 at 6:00 p.m. with a rain date of Saturday May 29,” board president Geist said. “Is there any further discussion?” Hearing silence, he asked if there was a time for Saturday, to which Mr. Koenig said, “it depends what the storm looks like,” if rain, though morning was preferred. Geist then directed board secretary Sue Kiraly to read the roll, the date for graduation passing unanimously. Mark those calendars, and hope for clear skies, as did one board member.
“Hopefully we have good weather on the 28th and we don’t have to worry about it,” member Chad Verbeten said of the graduation rain date of May 29.
