HOMEPLACE Happenings

This week June and Lucille helped make no melt peanut butter suet for our birds we also put out jelly, a wild feed mix and June feeds the humming birds from her balcony. Our recipe calls for lard, peanut butter, corn meal, sugar, oatmeal, flour and sun flower seed, this recipe calls for a lot of flour which is going to make it a no melt suet, after we added our ingredients to our melted lard and peanut butter and mixed well we portion the mixture into baggies and freeze. We attract yellow and red finch, sparrows, wood peckers, orioles, red winged black birds and humming birds. Our residents love watching the birds.

Monica and I are still walking a few times a week, now we are going to Chapman Park to walk it seems to be cooler there, it’s a beautiful park with the lake, we enjoy the foot bridge going to the island, walking past the elk and deer, watch people fishing, there is so much going on there that our walks go by quickly. It’s a great place to walk for the summer!

Bingo is a little more fun for our residents changing things up a bit by offering prize boxes for winning, were adding the wheel of fortune so they can chose 1 box or a ticket to spend at our general store or spin the wheel, they spun for prizes on the wheel, the prizes range from a lottery ticket to having to where a sombrero or a dinosaur headband for the next game, almost everyone spun the Wheel, our winners were lune with 1, Esther 3, Lucille 1 she spun the Wheel and had to wear the dinosaur headband, Susan 1, Bunny 1, Bernice 1, and Barb 1.

The Homeplace and all our residents wish our community, friends and family a safe and happy holiday weekend.
