HOMEPLACE Happenings
Residents at the Homeplace love to garden they are very eager to help water and tend to our vegetables, our onions are doing great our potatoes and carrots are a little behind they need more watering and more sun light. So we are switching things around on the patio in hopes that will help them grow. We have our tomato plants bought, but will not plant until we have warmer weather, one less thing to cover when it’s in the 30’s overnight. We will also put ou planting our flowers that we started several weeks ago, they are ready to go outside some of our 27 sunflower plants are over a foot tall so once the weather warms up we will be busy planting. This week our crafting project is making Poppies just in time for Memorial Day. We are making enough to give one to all our residents in remembrance of those that lost their lives serving our country. We have veterans that severed in World War II and the Vietnam War, their stories are intriguing and sad. So if you know a veteran stop and take time to sit with them and listen to their stories of the comrades they lost and thank them for serving our country. Bingo! The activity that is the favorite amongst our residents we had a great turnout and our winners were Cindy with 3 wins, Barb 1, Bunny 1,Dennis 2, Ed 1, June 1 and Esther with 1. There is a community bingo event in Stanley coming up and our residents are looking forward to playing bingo and possibly listening to the band at Chapman park. We are very excited!
The second favorite things for our residents love is going to church. We have a Catholic Mass every second Friday of the month and a Lutheran services on the third Friday of the month with a great turnout for both service, Pastor Ken and Father Felix thank you so much for your time and making each Mass/service memorable for our residents.
