Rick Hodowanic, has resigned his Ward 1 alderman seat on the Stanley Common Council. Hodowanic cited work obligations in the resig- nation letter filed by Hodwanic and later accepted by the Council June 20.
“Due to my current work obligations I am submitting my resignation from the Stanley City Council,” Hodowanic wrote in correspondence dated for June 12. “I don’t feel I have the time needed to fulfill this commitment.
Approved in the council consent agenda June 20, a va- cancy ovcially exists in Ward 1. Speaking of which, where is it?
The northwest side, delineated generally. For those who might be interested in filling Hodowanic’s vacancy, the requirements include living within the following area: Starting on Emery Street and proceeding north to 10th Avenue, the line for Ward 1 next extends past Franklin Avenue to 270th Street, where it turns south across open field and continues to First Avenue, including all of McKenzie and Dodge Streets as well as Kennedy and beyond.
Turning west on Willow, it next proceeds up the curved street west of the school building, which if continued on leads to the Grant Street Apartments.
Turning west instead but incorporating the Grant Street Apartments in the ward itself, the Ward 1 boundary proceeds down Fourth Avenue to Jeuer son, where it takes a turn north to Sixth Avenue. Proceeding on Sixth Avenue to Park Avenue, it then turns north, taking a left turn at Seventh Avenue to meet back up with its starting point. If you live in this area of the city, you’re eligible to serve on the Ward 1 Council seat just vacated. So just where should applications be filed?
“It’s just a letter of interest that would be submitted,” city clerk-treasurer Nicole Thiel said of prerequisites (aside from living in Ward 1) for the Council seat.
Mailed letters should be sent to P.O. Box 155 in Stanley, Thiel said, while those which are brought in should be dropped ou at 353 South Broadway.
