To prepare for Halloween we painted and carved pumpkins. Susan and Bernie painted little pumpkins. Esther, Rita, Gloria and Lorraine helped carve one together. Rosie, and Kathy gutted out a pumpkin as well. The ladies had fun scooping the slimy seeds out of the pumpkin and separating them. The general store opened its doors as well. Sandi, Lorraine, and Dennis did some shopping.

Tuesday morning, Lorraine and Sandi played 500 Rummy. Lorraine was the winner but Sandi kept it close throughout the game. Yvonne colored, Carol B worked through her word searches and Kathy L flipped through magazines. Becky worked on and finished a big jigsaw puzzle.

O n Wednesday, Les, Lilly and Ed played the game “Shake Loose a Memory” which starts conversations about one’s past experiences. In the afternoon, Yvonne, Rosie, and Kathy L created cute pictures with large sized stamps. Well done ladies! Joann, Esther and Sandi got together to learn and play a new dice game called “shut the box.” All had fun counting up the dice and their scores and said they would like to play again. We celebrated Patrick’s birthday at lunch. Pat received a card as well as a neatly decorated cake with horses on it.

On Thursday, Lorraine, Sandi, and June visited the store to see what they could purchase. Sandi got her nails painted before lunch. After lunch, each floor played some Halloween games. Al, Marge, Lorraine and Rita played knock down with orange cups that looked like jack-o-lanterns and then we turned the cups over to play pumpkin pong. All were challenged by the fun games. Lorraine and Rita posed in front of a spooky backdrop. Al and Marge completed a Halloween word search while Lorraine and Rita worked together on a Halloween mad lib that had them chuckling. Les, Ed, Yvonne, and Rosie played balloon basketball with balloons that looked ghosts. They had a blast getting the ghost balloons in the “ghoul.”

Friday morning, Sandi got her nails touched up to look like spooky spider webs. Everyone received a baggie of chocolates and candy for Halloween. It was also Ed’s birthday and everyone sang to him before we shared a delicious cake.
