A fire on Wednesday, Jan. 24 in the Town of Delmar has resulted in two people transported for smoke inhalation, destroying a garage as well.
The fire at 33190 100th Avenue spread after a small fire in a commercial size meat smoker became much more.
“I was smoking meat,” homeowner Donald Bohl shared. “There was a little fire in the bottom of the smokehouse.” Opening the door, Bohl said that, “the fire exploded so I couldn’t push it back shut.” Bohl and one other person at the residence were transported to Aspirus Stanley for smoke inhalation.
Speaking after the fire was out, Boyd Fire Chief Ron Patten said the garage was a total loss, with heavy smoke in the house, while Stanley Fire Chief Korey Hagenson said the department contributed both water trucks and man power to fighting the fire.
“We had both tenders, man power, and a full site at the corner of 10th Ave and Broadway,” he said of Stanley’s role in battling the fire.
Cadott also responded to assist in putting out the Wednesday night fire.
