The Stanley-Boyd Alumni Association held a meeting on Monday April 5, and planning began for holding the All-School Reunion on Saturday, October 2. Arrangements have been made to again gather at the Stanley-Boyd High School gym for the annual event. President Ken Seufzer called the meeting to order at 10 am with 13 board members in attendance. Adam Smit, of Adam Smit Investment Management, was in attendance to review the Scholarship Investment Fund held through his firm. Investments in the fund to date have been $25,000, with a $15,000 addition to the corpus due to the success of the 2020 fund drive held when COVID-19 forced the cancellation of the reunion in 2020. Following Smit, Dave Jankoski, SBAA Treasurer presented the Fourth Quarter Report for 2020, the First Quarter Report for 2021, and the Fiscal Year Report for January-December 2020. He noted that at the end of Fiscal Year 2020, the checking account balance was $16,926.70 and the Scholarship Investment Fund was at $29,288.75. He followed his reports by presenting a 2021 Proposed Budget that called for $12,500 in income and $11,416 in Expenses. He noted that income is always a projection based on previous experience, while expenditures at the end of a Fiscal Year are usually close to budget estimates. The financial reports and the budget were approved as presented. Carole Henkins Licht presented information related to the Master Directory. She is in the process of updating address information from last year’s donors. She will be passing the Master Directory duties to Barb Endvick Johnson in July. Any Class with updated information can contract Barb at 530-205-6665. Carole was thanked for the immense amount of work she has done in organizing and keeping the Directory as current as possible. Regretfully, there is no information on several classes who have never had a reunion and have no person(s) keeping track of their classmate’s addresses. Dick Guyer and Tesse Poulter Burlingame discussed use of the SBAA Website and Facebook Page for information sharing and possible use as a fundraising means. Burlingame provided the pros and cons of using Facebook. Discussion followed with the conclusion being that Burlingame, Guyer and volunteer Sharon Wundrow meet and further flush out use of these tools. Guyer also informed the group that Cedric Solie, who has organized parade entries for a number of years, will not be able to be involved this year. SBAA will need someone local to help with this project if it is to continue in the Boyd and Stanley parades. Anyone with a tractor, wagon and a willingness to help should

Jean Geist Rygiel provided information on the Nominating Committees work to obtain several new board members. She will be presenting at least one and hopefully two new Board Members at the Annual Reunion. Kim Witt Nelson announced that the Silent Auction Committee will consist of five members and will follow pretty much what has been done in the past. Help will again be needed for set-up, working the auction tables and in collecting following the closure. Nelson will remain the organization’s photographer and many reunion pictures can be viewed on the Website.
The Class of 1960 and the Class of 1961 will be co-hosting the Reunion this year. Both Classes are ready to assume the duties with representatives Carole Henkins Licht and Dave Jankoski representing the Class of 1960 and Millie Schreier Mickett and Sue Heagle Jessick representing the Class of 1961.
During discussion of the scholarship program, it was voted to present three scholarships to 2021 graduates and raise the scholarships to $1,500 each. There were no scholarships given in 2020, as there were no applicants. New S-B Guidance Counselor, Page Ringelstetter will be working to assure applicants this year. The standard application form will be used by applicants and the winners will be determined by the school’s committee. In another business item, it was voted that the cost per registrant this year will be going up $1 to $26, due to increased costs in the food service price.
President Seufzer lead the group in a review of the organization’s Strategic Goals for 2021 and several minor changes were made in the wording. Zoom Technology was discussed with the conclusion being that at this time the organization does not have the capability of providing this meeting format. There was also a review of the Policies and By-Laws with no changes made.
Honorary recognitions are being planned for three individuals. A review of the material presented on each was held and each was supported for recognition. Seufzer also reviewed the 2021 Work Plan with assignments made and reviewed for all the work details that needs to be done. Anyone doing class letters need to get them to Jankoski for copying and/or distribution by June 12, to assure having them available for the next meeting to be held on July 12 at 10 a. m., when approximately 2000 invitations for the 2021 Reunion will be prepared for mailing.
The Board is excited and looking forward to again be greeting alumni attending the 2021 Reunion.
