An independent film is coming to the Stanley Theater. Titled February, the film by Wisconsin filmmaker Nathan Deming will arrive in town Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1:30 p.m. The free matinee screening of the 50 minute film will be followed with a Q and A with the director.
Filmed in Wisconsin, February is part of the Year Project by Deming, a 12-part series of films set in the same Wisconsin town. January, its predecessor from 2023, saw an aging church volunteer struggle to keep up with a last minute shotgun wedding with a pregnant teenaged bride. February, the 2024 installment, tells the story of a recent immigrant named Miguel (David Ezekiel Duran) who clashes with his sister (Nayeli Hernandez) and her husband (Erick Inestroza) while struggling to fit into his new home in Wisconsin, until he learns ice fishing.
The second installment of a larger series, February offers a heartfelt exploration of Midwestern life, crafted with care by an independent filmmaker, and has won multiple awards, including the Audience Award from the Wisconsin Film Festival, official selection from the Montreal Independent Film Festival, and Official selection at the 2024 Milwaukee Independent Film Awards.
Don’t miss your chance to see February at the Stanley Theatre Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1:30 p.m.
