It was a welcome relief after much bad news.

Playing against the Colby Hornets in a home game this past Thursday, the Oriole girls varsity posted a win to break a losing streak, the final score coming out to 69 – 40. Coming out of the gate running, the Ori- oles pecked the Hornets with a total of 41 re – bounds, 21 assists, and 24 steals, along with a forty-three percent success rate at attempted field goals to just 32 percent for Colby High.

Now ranked 6th in the Western Cloverbelt, the win against Colby last Thursday added a seventh game win this season to those against Elmwood/Plum City (46 – 39), Loyal (41 – 29), Flambeau (58 – 29), Cadott (63 – 41), Thorp (score of 55 – 41), and Bloomer (51 – 41). Play – ing next against Viroqua this Wednesday in a Regional rescheduled from Friday February 22, the Oriole girls can go into the Wednesday game, with a win.
