Staff Report
A Thorp man is due to be sentenced June 1 in Clark County for sexual assault of a child.
Jason K. Dietrich, 31, will be sentenced for 948.025 (1) (d) Repeated Sexual Assault of Same Child (At Least 3 violations of 1st Degree Sexual Assault), a Class B felony. As a condition of the plea agreement, the prosecution agreed to read in but dismiss three additional charges against
Dietrich related to the case, with initial confinement to be capped at 12 years.
Under State law, a Class B felony is the second mostserious type and could otherwise carry a potential 60 years in prison.
The case began in December 2019 with a complaint filed December 9, followed by a bail/bond hearing on December 10. As a result of the bail bond hearing, Dietrich was placed under a $5,000 cash bond and ordered to have no contact whatsoever with the victim, along with a prohibition on contact with anyone under the age of 18 without Adult Supervision of someone age 25 and older. This was later amended to go through a third party, though not amending the ban on contact or unsupervised visitation. Following cash bond being
set at $5,000 on December 10, Dietrich next appeared in court for his initial appearance on February 25, this re-scheduled from January 24, with an address change for Dietrich in the meantime from 210 East
Rusch Street in Thorp to 417 West Main, also in Thorp. Dietrich later moved in May of 2020 to Perry Street in Chippewa Falls, then to 1121 Technology Way of Chippewa Falls as of August last year.
Arraignment initially scheduled for September 29 was then rescheduled for October 19, and finally for November 20. All appeared by ZOOM platform October 19, with Defendant filing for the substitution of judge and arraignment happening on November 20, 2020.
At the arraignment November 20, Dietrich made a plea of 'Not Guilty,' with the State later ordering an HIV/ STD test on Dietrich's part. Following a Status Conference December 28 and another on February 10, Dietrich pleaded guilty in exchange for a plea agreement, later entered into
by the defendant and State. Prosecutors than asked that a Sex Offender Assessment be completed, which the court granted, denying prosecutor's request to revoke bond.
Following a pre-sentence investigation, Dietrich is next scheduled to appear in court June 1, in Clark County before Judge Richard Radcliffe.
