Jean M. Hendricks, 78 of Stanley, formerly of Gilman, died on Sunday, May 2, 2021 under the care of Hope Hospice. She was born on May 29, 1942 at the family home in Hannibal to the late Vernon and Lucille (Evonson) Madison. Jean grew up there and graduated from Gilman High School. On November 28, 1959 she married Ray Hendricks at the Cornell Presbyterian Church.
Jean worked for Lewan’s Grocery for 27 years, Gamble Hardware for 10 years and worked on the family farm for 31 years along with her husband. She enjoyed fishing, working on her flowers, and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son, Rodney (Sandy) Hendricks of Gilman, four grandchildren, Matt Hendricks, Joshua Hendricks, Eric (Debbie) Pogodzinski and Sarah (Nick) Diny; four great grandchildren, Makinley, Brighton, Kensley and Ryan; her brother, Wayne (Patricia) Madison of Stanley; her “special sister” Diane (Roy) Rooks, 3 nephews and one niece. Jean is preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Ray on November 19, 2020.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Saturday, May 15th at the Gilman Funeral home with Randy Vandeloo officiating. Burial will follow in the Hannibal Cemetery. Pall bearers will be Eric Pogodzinski, Matt Hendricks, Josh Hendricks, Denise Madison, Dan Madison, and Mary Madison. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
