We will be holding a Friends of the D.R. Moon Memorial Library organizational meeting at the library on May 3rd at 6:30PM. The Friends of the Library is a volunteer organization that assists the library in its mission to serve the community and supports the library’s initiatives and projects. If you are looking for a way to be more involved with the library and the community, please consider joining our Friends group. This initial meeting will be for the election of officers.
The library will be holding a spring cleaning sale on May 5-7. We have many books, movies, electronics, and more for sale in the lower level. Help us with our spring cleaning and discover something you didn’t know you needed!
Our first Girls Who Code Club meetings for 3-5th graders and 6-12th graders last month were a great success. A wonderful group of girls got together to discuss coding and start learning the programming language Scratch. We will be meeting again on the last Tuesday of this month and there is still time to register. Send us an email at [email protected]
Digital connection remains an issue for many in the Stanley area. There is a new option for families to connect: the Emergency Broadband Benefit program through the FCC. This program will provide a temporary home internet discount for eligible families. More details will be coming soon and sign-up begins later this month. We continue to offer Wi-Fi hotspots for checkout and we’ve received very positive feedback about the speed and signal strength no matter how rural the area. There’s a waiting list for the hotspots, so let us know as soon as possible if you would like to check one out.
The library is open to the public Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10AM-6PM. We are also open on Tuesdays from 10AM-6PM for curbside pickup and mobile printing. Happy Spring!
