The Thorp area will soon have a place where seniors can gather to meet and enjoy community.
Joyful Journeys senior recreation center is due to open this fall at 104 North Boardman Street in Thorp. Founded by former Traditions Assisted Living owner Jason Hazuga, Joyful Journeys seeks to bring seniors together to gather, build friendships and enjoy a true sense of community.
Among names associated with Joyful Journeys Senior Recreation Center are Board President Carol Stasila, Secretary Amanda Hoffstatter, and Treasurer Bruce Westphal.
Hazuga shared more on what Joyful Journeys Senior Recreation Center is about.
“For more than five years, the Thorp area has been without a place where seniors can gather, build friendships, and enjoy a true sense of community,” he said. “As we age, social connection becomes more important than ever. Isolation can have a significant impact on both physical and emotional health, and many of our neighboring communities also lack programs and opportunities for older adults to connect. Our seniors have given so much throughout their lives—they deserve a welcoming place to belong.
