Kenneth James Theirl, 78, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025, in Grafton, Wisconsin, surrounded by his family.
Ken is survived by his wife of 55 years, Patty (Troz); his sons, Scott (Stephanie) and Craig (Cassandra); his grandchildren, Sayla, Truman, Vivian, Ingrid, and Adeline; his sister Barb Powers (Wayne Schroeder); his sister-in-law Betty Theirl; nieces and nephews; and members of the Troz family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mary, brothers David (Phyllis) and Allen, granddaughter Aurora Theirl; nephews Christopher Theirl, Jeffrey Theirl and Lee Troz.
Ken was born January 12, 1947, in Stanley, Wisconsin. During high school, he played football for the Stanley Orioles and spent summers working at his family’s grocery store and as a lifeguard.
Ken earned a Business Administration degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire and built a career in the garment industry, traveling frequently to New York and Hong Kong.
Ken greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He will always be remembered by his family as a loving and supportive husband, father, and grandpa. His favorite summer family vacation destination was Door County, Wisconsin. His favorite hobbies included photography (winning an award in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel photo contest), cooking and sailing.
For over two decades, Ken lived with Multiple Sclerosis, and dealt with his illness with a positive attitude and grace.
The family would like to thank the caring and supportive staff of the Lasata Care Center in Grafton, WI.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held for Ken on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at Mequon United Methodist Church, 11011 North Oriole Lane, Mequon, Wi 53092. There will be a visitation at 11:00 am and the service at 12 pm noon.
