Members of the Stanley Lions Club held their December meeting on Monday, December 12, at Debbie’s on Broadway. The gathering served as the group’s annual Christmas party. Prior to the meal Lion President Dave Jankoski welcomed the 27 attendees and thanked them for their attendance at this busy time of the year. He noted the generous donation towards children’s Christmas gifts by Lion Doug Dahl, from a fundraiser he held at Curve Inn. A delicious steak and shrimp dinner was complimented with a trip to the salad bar. After dinner, Lion Lorena McLoone took charge of the entertainment. All attendees were invited to bring a Christmas present that could be exchanged at the end of the reading of the Christmas Story. The story contained directions of moving the gifts right or left and at the end of the story all attendees had a gift before them to open. The evening concluded with the gift opening and good conversation around what each had received.
It is noted that the deer hide collection by the local Lions Club continues with a drop bin at Express Mart. The Lions are especially appreciative of Inge’s Custom Meats, Stanley and Boyd Catering, which have also served as collection sites. All proceeds from the sale of hides go to support people with disabilities who attend the Lions Camp at Rosholt.
The next regular meeting of the Stanley Lions Club will be held at Debbie’s on Broadway on January 9.
