The 14th annual Watermelon Fest 5k run and walk was held as part of the annual Stanley Lion’s Watermelon Festival held July 26th at Chapman Park. A very warm and humid day greeted nearly runners and walkers who completed the annual 3.1 mile event. Reed Anderson of Fitchburg won the male division title in 17:16. Maddy Vantassel also of Fitchburg was crowned the ladies champion with a time of 20:49. Overall winners received running bobble head awards and division winners received a chilled watermelon. The 5k run/walk was followed by a well-attended kids race. Full detailed results can be found at www.webscorer.com/stanleylionsclub.
