Local violin students prepare for first community recital

Posted

Four young musicians from the Stanley and Thorp area recently reached an exciting milestone in their musical journeys by performing in their very first violin recital.
Winnie, Weildone, and Israella Witt of Stanley, along with Clara Wissell of Thorp, have been taking violin lessons with Lauren Cody through Northwood Strings, a music lesson company based in Hayward. After months of practice and dedication, the students performed this past weekend in front of family and friends during their debut recital.
The four students performed two songs, “The Leprechaun Song” and “Boil Them Cabbage Down,” proudly demonstrating the progress they have made through their lessons. They were also accompanied by older students, who performed pieces representing musical traditions from different regions of the world, creating a memorable experience for everyone in attendance.
Lauren Cody, owner of Lauren the Cellist, LLC, began working with Northwood Strings last fall and now teaches students of all ages throughout the local area. Her goal is to make string education more accessible to rural communities while helping students build confidence through music.
The community will have another opportunity to hear these talented young musicians soon. Residents are invited to attend the students’ first local recital on June 7 at the Stanley Historical Society, where the students will once again share their growing musical talents with family, friends, and neighbors.
For these young violinists, each performance marks another step in a meaningful musical journey that is only just beginning.
