Writing in a letter addressed to Suzanne Lindenmann of the Clark County Department of Social Services, Stanley mayor A1 Haas reiterated City and Council support for the Clark County Shared Ride Taxi service that he said “continues to fill a service gap to city residents.

“I am writing on behalf of the Mayor’s Office and the Stanley City Council to express our support of the Clark County Shared Ride Taxi Services offered to the residents of the Municipality of Stanley,” Haas made known in the letter dated for November 20 and included in the Council packet for December 2. “It is evident this service is being utilized and will continue to benefit all City of Stanley residents,” he wrote, expressing the City’s full support for the Shared Ride Taxi service.

The service listed under carried out by Abby Vans Inc. as a 32-year-old company founded in 1988 offers CMO, Complementary Paratransit, County Contracts, Human Service, and private services in addition to Shared Ride Taxi Services. The service is medical Assistance Certified, MTM Certified, DOT and FTA approved, and requires First Aid/ CPR along with Defensive Driving and Passenger Sensitivity certification for all drivers. Currently following strategies and measures recommended by the CDC and Public Health Departments, the vans are cleaned daily while passengers are encouraged to provide their own mask and make staff time easier, as drivers must refuse service to those answering “yes” or else refusing to answer a list of questions related to COVID-19 exposure, while passengers with masks are not asked these questions.
