The American Legion members as well as local boy and girl scouts have placed flags on the graves of veterans at the cemetery on Pine Street. As in the past if we have missed your veterans grave we are sorry to not have honored them. Please call Tony Goettl (715 206 0242) or Edward Staib (715 206 0652) and they will meet you at the cemetery and place a flag.

As to Boyd, local Legion Post 326 Commander Gerry Gully shared the following with newspaper staff.

"We're going to go to the five cemeteries," he said of Legion plans to honor fallen comrades on Monday, after participating in the Ringelspiel parade on Sunday. As to the cemeteries in question, following information was made known to this newspaper.

The Boyd Legion Family will meet at Walter Nelson Legion Hall by 9:30 a.m. on Monday, May 31, 2021. All who wish to participate or show appreciation for our deceased veterans should be aware of the following schedule: Wilson Cemetery-10:00 a.m. Edson Union Cemetery- 10:30 a.m. Sacred Heart Cemetery, Edson- 10:45 a.m. St. Joseph's Cemetery, Boyd- 11:00 a.m. St. Peter's Cemetery, rural Cadott -11:15 a.m. The Boyd Legion Family will then gather for a Memorial Day lunch at the Legion Hall following the ceremonies.

The public is asked to leave off any tattered, worn, or unusable American Flags at Boyd Feed & Supply. The official Flag disposal event will be held in Stanley on June 14, 2021. All are invited to attend these events to show respect for our veterans and "Old Glory" on Memorial Day.

Meanwhile on the same day of Monday May 31 but further to the east somewhat, the Thorp Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 9057 will also host a series of Memorial Day Observances at area rural cemeteries, with the schedule as follows: 9:15 a.m. Sylvan Cemetery (Town of Reseburg) 9:45 a.m. Butlerville Cemetery (Town of Butler) 10:15 a.m. Worden Cemetery (Fernwall Avenue at former Church of the Brethren site) 10:30 a.m. Worden Cemetery (County Road N) 11:15 a.m. Taft Town Cemetery (Meridian Drive north of 130th Avenue) 11:30 a.m. St. Mary of Czestochowa (east of Copenhaver Avenue near site of church) 11:50 a.m. Eidsvold Cemetery (Hart Road off County X in Town of Thorp) 12:20 p.m. St. Bernard-St. Hedwig's Cemetery A potluck will follow at the Reseburg Town Hall. All Thorp VFW members are urged to participate and should meet at the Town of Reseburg Hall at 9:00 a.m.
