‘When’s the new Mexican restaurant going to open?’ is a question that won’t have to be asked anymore by local residents of the Stanley-Boyd area–because it is open.
Cantina Margarita’s is the Broadway street location of a family-owned enterprise, with another restaurant owned by the Valencia family in Black River Falls as well, is now open and taking orders at North Broadway, just north of Marine Credit Union at the old location of Southern Consignment at 117 North Broadway Street.
“We’ve been in Wisconsin for twelve years now already and we want to bring authentic Mexican food to the people of Stanley and surrounding area,” Martin Valencia said

of the north Broadway restaurant recently. “It’s a family-owned restaurant.”
With a cantina and margaritas and a menu that also offers chimichangas, fajita wraps, quesadillas, nachos and enchiladas, with Spanish music in an authentic Mexican atmosphere, the new restaurant has been proving popular with locals, filling out at dinnertime each night.
Visitors to the North Broadway location will find an artistic interior with hammered tin roof above, while below are scenes depicting Aztecs, Mayas, the Virgin of Guadalupe (Mexico’s patron saint) and Mexican-themed art generally, with solid carved wood furnishings and glass bottle sodas, among other perks. Visitors to Cantina Margaritas at 117 North Broadway will find that the kitchen is located in back, with the bar on the north side surrounded by booths and free-standing tables.
“We want to invite everybody to come over and have a freshmade meal,” Valencia said, listing the many drinks and items offered and on hand.
“We have strawberry margaritas, mango margaritas, pina coladas, tap beer. Fresh-made food, fresh guacamole,” he said, adding that the restaurant plans to do a back patio soon.
“We want to welcome everyone over,” he said. The phone number for Cantina Margarita’s on Broadway, meanwhile, is 715-709-0116, with a Facebook presence as well for those wishing to learn more.
