Stanley-Boyd Middle School Football players finished off the season with a win against Regis on Tuesday, October 10th. Both 7th and 8th grade teams played hard, proud and held their ground as they fought for a chance at redemption. With both Stanley-Boyd Varsity and Junior Varsity players falling against Regis, the Stanley-Boyd 7th grade football players were pleased to earn redemption for the school with a 22-6 win against the 7th grade Regis Ramblers.
Middle School Head Football Coach Adam Helmsing shared his thoughts on this year’s football season. “Our 7th and 8th grade teams were excited with the progress they made this season. While our results were not always indicative of that progress I, along with all the coaches, know that we have two teams here that will contribute to our varsity program in the future. Their success was a product of their dedication. I’m immensely proud of these young men and look forward to seeing them continue their football careers.”
Middle School Football Coach Matt Miklasz agreed. “We saw great improvement by both teams. The 7th grade team had a dominant defense all year and the 7th grade after some adjustments with the skill positions began to move the ball well,” he stated. “The 8th grade team had great numbers and we were able to get a lot of playing time for each. We had several players who were playing for the 1st time this year. The offense showed great improvement especially with the defense spearheaded by an especially strong defensive line.” He added, “The future is bright for Oriole Football!”
