Prior Elected Office(s)?

Stanley-Board School Board

Position sought? Chippewa County District 10 Board seat

Are you from eastern Chippewa County original – ly? What about family? Just what drives you to seek the role of Chippewa County Su – pervisor this election cycle?

My main reasons why I decided to run for Chippewa County Board Supervisor District 10 is about wanting to give back. I love living in Chippewa County and I want to be able to give back hopefully by serving the residents of District 10 as their representative on the County Board.

I have lived on our farm in the Town of Edson for over 30 years. I would not live anywhere else. As a resident of Chippewa County who lives in rural Edson I have had many opportunities that have included raising our children on the farm to also growing myself professionally.

What do you bring to the table in terms of background and experience, and how would you prioritize differ – ent county needs, made into a list? How would these needs and goals be achieved? My professional background includes being a director for a mediation agency, business owner and I also have had the opportunity to work in county government for many years in many various roles and departments including over seven years as a Human Services Director and a Social Services Director. This experience has provided me the opportunity to work with a number of Boards, external and internal stakeholders and with many various county departments, businesses and community organizations. This professional opportunity has provided me with extensive experience working within the county government system.

I feel with my background, education professional and life experiences I would be able to be a strong voice and advocate for District 10. As to the question of how I would prioritize the needs of the County. Many of the important issues that continue to face Chippewa County have been discussed and actionable plans created. I feel it is important to look at the work that has been done, conduct a review and identify areas that have not been completed or possibly addressed.

Chippewa County’s Strategic Plan was approved by the County Board on 1/14/2020 that identified several of the pressing issues facing Chippewa Count along with a roadmap on how to address each issue.

This is the link to read the complete Strategic Plan: https:// www.co.chippewa.wi.us/ home/showpublisheddocu- ment/152/6371476410984 00000 In addition, the Mission Statement of the Department of Administration (DOA) along with stated goals highlights additional areas of concern. This document provided specific objectives as to the focus of the DOA to best service the county citizens. The link is: https:// www.co.chippewa.wi.us/government/ administration/county- administrator.

If elected I would ask for a review of the Strategic Plan and DOA’s goals through the development of a limited- term committee. The task of the committee would be to bring together representatives from: County Board; County employees; business owners (from throughout the county); residents (from throughout the county); Township Boards, City Councils, and Village Boards. This committee would be given the task to do a “report card” on the current status of the Strategic Plan and the DOA’s goals. The committee would also be tasked to ensure the information would be shared so that all residents throughout the county would have access to the report.

In addition, other areas that need to be addressed and prioritized would be:

• Broadband infrastructure throughout Chippewa County

• Infrastructure – roads and bridges throughout Chippewa County

• Economic Development throughout Chippewa County

• Water quality throughout Chippewa County Should the matter arise in a given case, how would you address any real or perceived conflict of interest involving the county board?

The key to avoiding con- flicts of interest are by having statements and policies for managing them and creating awareness for potential con- flicts. Each board member has a responsibility to identify and address potential conflicts.

If I was in a situation where there was a conflict of interest, I would be very transparent about the situation, explain the conflict and then abstain from voting on any matters specific to the conflict-of-interest issue.

What else should people know?

• If elected my vision includes being part of the conversations, collaborations, transparency and action planning to learn from the solutions of the past and moving that conversation towards re-imagining and planning for the solutions of the future.

• My goal is to be active and collaborative member of the Chippewa County Board to represent and to be a strong voice and advocate for District 10 and who will work towards creating efficiencies, transpar ency, development, growth and progress.

• I have a lot to learn on becoming an active, valued and impactful member of the Chippewa County Board of Supervisors and I hope that I am provided that opportunity by the voters of District 10.
