Stanley-Boyd has a new high school principal, and his name is Nathan Steinmetz.
Approved at the May 19 regular school board meeting, Steinmetz comes to the position with 15 years experience in education.
Graduating from Osceola High School in 2002, Steinmetz started his career at Stanley-Boyd in 2010 as a fourth grade teacher and director of online learning, before spending time as assistant middle/high school principal as well as an elementary principal at Ladysmith, then serving one year as high school principal at Cadott. Steinmetz then returned to Stanley-Boyd to serve as athletic director and high school dean of students, before being appointed to his new position. He is married to Stanley-Boyd English teacher Kayleigh Steinmetz, with whom he has two children.
As for degrees, Steinmetz has three: one in Computer Networking and Programming from Century College in White Bear Lake, a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from UW-River Falls, and a master’s degree in Principal of Leadership and Director of Instruction from Silver Lake University. When asked what he wanted parents to know as he prepared to take on his new role, Steinmetz shared the following.
“I am excited to continue my career where it started and help shape the students here at Stanley-Boyd,” he said.
Also approved at the May school board meeting, meanwhile, Stanley-Boyd alumna Tanya Mahr is now the director of Learning and PLC.
Her educational attainments include a bachelors from UW-Eau Claire as well as a masters from UW-Superior in Elementary Education. Mahr came to Stanley-Boyd in 2011 as a high school social studies teacher, before becoming the district’s Success Coordinator in 2017 and later high school principal in 2018. She has experience as both Student Council and Senior Class advisor, also working with the Freshman Mentor program and Summer Theater.
