It was a game like many others, but not all.

More to the point, it was a win for the Orioles versus Neillsville at the Neillsville-Granton Warriors homecoming game.

Two years past, Stanley-Boyd lost out at homecoming, only to come roaring back with time.

By halftime at Friday’s away game, the score was 21 – 0 in Stanley-Boyd’s favor. Coming out of the break between halves, the third quarter arrived, and that’s when the outcome started to be apparent.

A touchdown Cooper Nichols for Stanley- Boyd Brough the score 27 – 0 in Stanley- Boyd’s favor, while the kick by Mike Karlen for an extra point was no good. With 10:48 left to go in the third quarter, there was time to spare—and it came, after Karlen kicked the ball for a return by Neillsville, while a turnover plus a run to the end zone by Cooper Nichols Brough the score 33 – 0 in Stanley-Boyd’s favor. This time the extra point was good, leaving the score 34 – 0 in Stanley-Boyd’s favor, with 9:55 left to go in the third quarter.

With a kick and return, Neillsville was brought down and the turnover made. Time, was running out—and it did. Before long, the game was over, the final score 37 – 0.
