“When will the new library be done?” Since the beginning of this generational library building project, this is the question I have heard the most, and it is honestly the question I have asked the most as well. After just over a year in our home-away-from-home at the Stanley Fire Station, I am so excited to be able to announce that the library is moving back into our building on East 4th Avenue and our doors will open to the community on Monday, October 5th, at 8 a.m.!
With the new library, we will also have new library hours, including Saturdays. We will be open:
Monday 8 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Tuesday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Wednesday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Thursday 10 a.m. - 8 p.m.
Friday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.Saturday 10 a.m. - 12 p.m.
In preparation for the October 5th open, our library move is currently underway. A local company from Cadott, Anderson Moving, did an excellent job last week of moving our many boxes of books and other library materials from our two storage locations. The Anderson team was quick and efficient, managing to beat the rain and finishing the entire move in just three hours! Thank you to Faith Evangelical Free Church for being willing to provide storage for some of our collection during construction. We truly appreciate your community support.
Our new bookshelves and the furniture for the entire building is scheduled to be delivered and installed this week. Throughout this week and the following week, library staff will be hard at work getting the library ready for our open date on October 5th. We will be unpacking and shelving the entire library collection, moving and unpacking boxes from our storage location with the city, and organizing all of our programming and circulation supplies.
While we are moving back in and re-opening the library, Hoeft Builders will continue to complete construction tasks into the month of October. We appreciate your understanding as we get settled and Hoeft wraps up their work in the library.
We will remain open at the Stanley Fire Station for our regular hours there while we get everything organized and ready at the new library. Our last day at the Fire Station will be Thursday, October 1st.
We have stayed at the Fire Station for quite a bit longer than we had anticipated when construction began. The Fire Station has served as a great location for us and we can’t thank Fire Chief Ron Patten and all the Stanley firefighters enough for their patience and graciousness as we have shared their space for the past year.
