In case you haven’t heard the news yet, here’s your 411. There’s are new speed limit from Kwik Trip due east on East Maple Street, and it’s ten miles less (25 mph) than the one before.
The new limits are touched on the most recent report by Stanley Police Chief Lance Weiland to the Common Council, with drivers traveling west from Thorp advised to “brake it down” to 25 miles per hour on the outskirts of town, at roughly the same point where they had only to worry about 35 mile per hour speed limit. A helpful diamond-shaped speed reduction sign takes away the “I didn’t know” wiggle room, for those inclined to try and plead their way out of a ticket. The new speed limit is clearly posted along East Maple/County X, and it’s 25 miles per hour.
Also included in the police chief’s bi-monthly update to the council, is a request received (and approved) for an outdoor Cinco de Mayo event at Cantina Margarita’s this May 5. With community cooperation, the event may be the start of a tradition, with stipulations being that alcohol may be served, but that those being served may not get up from their table outside. Keep it orderly—make a tradition.
