On August 3, Augusta Memorial Library and the Augusta Police Department are partnering to hold a community night out. The purpose of the event is to bring the community together and raise awareness of involvement opportunities and various local services available in the area. The event is scheduled to be held at the Augusta-Bridge Creek Fire Station.

Trempealeau County Times

On July 27, a group of staff, community and board members interviewed two candidates for the Independence School District Administrator position, that will be vacated by current District Administrator Barry Schmitt, who will be retiring after the 20212022 school year. After the interviews, community members and staff were invited to offer their feedback to the Board. +++ Ashley Furniture and the Wanek Family have done it again! At the open house celebrating the opening of the Arcadia Ambulance Services new headquarters, Ashley Furniture and members of the Wanek Family presented a check for $180,000. +++ Trempealeau County Highway Commissioners were recently told that the County Highway Department needs a $4.8 million storage building to house millions of dollars of equipment that now sits outside year round.

Buffalo County News

Fountain City officials have voted to increase sewer rates by 3 percent effective January 1, 2022. They also voted to request the Wisconsin Public Service Commission authorize a 3 percent water increase. +++ Buffalo County is hoping to obtain $100,000 from the Transportation Alternatives Program to go towards the cost of hiring an engineer to design and blueprint a proposed Great River State Trail Project. +++ Casey Denk, Mondovi FFA and Amara Livingston, Cochrane-Fountain City FFA, were both named to the nine-member Wisconsin FFA State Officer team for 2021-22 during the 92ndzzzzz annual Wisconsin State FFA Convention.
