WITH STANLEY LIONS PRESIDENT DAVID JANKOSKI
The Lions Motto is “We Serve.” In July, I mentioned a list of local service projects Lions get involved with. One of those is recycling eyeglasses. We collect used eyeglasses at six locations around Stanley. Some of those places are at Forward Bank, Stanley City Hall, Marine Bank, and Stanley IGA. Why do we collect them and what are the glasses used for? Your old eyeglasses can bring the world into view for a person in need. Glasses donated locally are sent to the Wisconsin Lions Foundations Recycling Center at Rosholt, WI. Annually, 500,000 plus pairs of used eyeglasses are processed to be sent to Missions in developing countries across the globe, with 100,000 pairs of glasses being distributed. So you can see your donation of eyeglasses can have an impact. Will this project continue? It will with new members in the Stanley Lions Club. Call 715-644-5880 to further explore membership.
