The Stanley Police Department will soon be getting new officer, with officer Shaun Stark leaving the department as of August 31 to work at the Stanley Correctional Institution.
A graduate of Stanley-Boyd High School, Stark was hired after the creation of a new full-time position to offset Stanley and Boyd’s mutual issues with keeping part-time officer hires.
Now another officer will fill Stark’s role.
“I was informed by Officer Shaun Stark that he will be resigning his full-time police officer position effective August 31, 2023,” Weiland said. But with a full-time position to offer, applicants are easier to find.
“They did approve a hire at the Council last week,” Stanley Police Lance Weiland shared Monday via phone. Contained in the consent agenda for August 21, Melissa McDonough was approved for full-time hire by the council. McDonough’s hire is conditional upon passing post-hire tests along with a mandatory background check.
With Weiland now working on the follow up details, expect an announcement from the Stanley Police Department Facebook page on the new officer shortly.
