Varsity volleyball shuts out Thorp as Brenner marks 1,000 kills in volleyball
It was a good week for Stanley-Boyd in volleyball.
Emily Brenner make 1,000 career kills for a milestone, while the team shut out Thorp 3-0 with match scores of 25-22, 2515, and 26-24 respectively. Regarding Brenner’s achievement, Coach Karley Wiensch had the following to say.
“I am excited for Emily to have reached 1000 kills in her career! It is a great achievement to be able to reach such a great milestone in her career at Stanley-Boyd.” A kill in volleyball, Wiensch explained, was an offensive attack that was unreturnable by the opponent and scores a point or side out for the defensive team.”
As to statistics from the shutout with Thorp, Brenner logged 27 kills and 13 digs, while Teagen Becker had nine kills, Sophia Anderson making six kills.
Senior Kayte Licht had eight kills, 13 digs, and four aces, while Kaden Drehmel had 22 assists, Avery Vait making 20 assists and Tina Benson 20 digs. In short, the year is going well.
“I think that this year is going well thus far,” Wiensch said. “We are just starting to enter conference play and am excited to see what the girls can do. I have confidence that they will work together to find ways to push through anything. Being able to get into more tournaments prior to conference play, has been benefi cial. I can really see the girls working together.”
