Followup games see losses to Regis Ramblers, O-F Thunder in week’s play

Now standing 2-6 for the season, the Oriole varsity baseball team saw a mixed week. With an 8 -7 win against Cadott Tuesday ouset by losses to Osseo- Fairchild and Regis later in the week.

Starting things out against Cadott, it looked bad in the ouset, as the Hornets scored two runs in the first inning while Stanley Boyd stayed scoreless into the second.

Entering the third the team made five runs, followed by five from Cadott in the fourth in ning and three more by Stanley to balance the score out 8 – 7 by game’s end.

Following Cadott, the Orioles held Osseo- Fairchild to just one run into the bottom of the fifth, when a string of three sealed the score 4 – 0 in the Thunder’s favor. Later against Re- gis, things were running in stride. In the first three innings, with just one run a piece for the

Eau Claire private school. Breaking away in the fourth, Regis put five runs in for the fourth in – ning and three in the fifth, while Stanley got a run in at the bottom of the fifth after struggling to make it past first base in the Rambler's field game. Coach Ryan Sturm shared thoughts on what the team needs to do to turn things around headed forward.

“We pitched well against Osseo,” he said of the week's play. "A few mistakes in the field but overall defensively I was happy. We need to learn how to manufacture runs when we are not hitting well. Bunting and baserunning becomes very important. The pitcher did not throw as hard as the Cadott pitcher we saw earlier in the week and we need to be able to make adjustments.”

The Orioles next face ou with McDonnell Central at Stanley-Boyd Thursday at 5 p.m.
