The Oriole boys varsity played hard last week, coming away with a 64-42 win against Cadott Feb. 12 followed by a 72-57 win against Elk Mound three days later.
Top point scorers against Elk Mound were Charlie Hoel with 20 points, followed by Brayten Mallo with 18 and Brenner Myers with 16. Josiah Demske contributed 10 and Troy Haas eight.
Top point scorers against Cadott were Hoel with 19, Myers with 12, and Mallo with 11. Demske made nine points, Haas five, Connor Goebel four, and Micah Krajacic and Kaiden Parker two a piece.
Oriole boys head varsity basketball coach Dakota Nichols shared more after results.
“After losing to them in our first matchup, we knew we had to match their physicality right away,” he said. “I thought our guys did a really good job. I’m not only playing physical, but being patient on offense. We were a lot more efficient this time around, shooting the ball above 50%.”

Nichols shared thoughts on Cadott as well.
“We did a great job defensively of limiting second chance points for them, and forcing 15 turnovers,” he said. “We were able to capitalize on those opportunities and come away with the win.”
Fast approaching the postseason, the Orioles now face McDonell at McDonell on Friday, Feb. 20. Game starts is 7:00 p.m.
