The Oriole boys varsity basketball season is off to a great start.
Opening the season against Colby, the team came away with a win, following this up with a 74-58 win against St. Croix Central Thursday, Dec. 4 as well as a 72-32 win against Elmwood Plum City on Saturday, Dec. 6. Orioles varsity head basketball coach Dakota Nichols shared more after scores were tallied.
“This was a big win for us,” he said of Thursday against St. Croix Central. “St. Croix Central is a good basketball program that gave our offense problems in the first half,” he said. “We made some adjustments at halftime, out scoring them 49 to 26 in the second half. Proud of our team for stepping up and competing at a high level on the road.”
Top scorers for Stanley-Boyd against St. Croix Central Thursday were Brayten Mallo with 19 points and Charlie Hoel with 15. Also making points against St. Croix Central were Brenner Myers with 13 and Jesse Allard, Troy Haas, and Josiah Demske with nine each.
Top scorers against Elmwood Plum City for the Orioles included Hoel with 20 points and Demske with 15 points. Making points for the team as well against Elmwood Plum City were Myers with nine, Mallo with eight, Haas with seven, Allard with five, Carsen Woodcock with four, and Connor Goebel and Chase Olichwier with two each.
Now first in conference with a 3-0 overall record, the boys varsity face off with Fall Creek at Fall Creek on Friday, Dec. 12 at 7:00 p.m.
