Loss at home comes after 55 – 36 win over Thorp

Win some, lose some–that about sums up the past week in Oriole Boys varsity basketball. After a 55 – 36 win over Thorp on February 2 at the Cardinal’s home court, the Oriole boys varsity fell to McDonnell at home February 4, with the final score 63 -46 in McDonnell’s favor.

Contributing to the Oriole point tally in the first half were Carsen Hause with 4 points, split between two successful baskets. Following Hause was Cooper Nichols with a two-pointer and Mikey Karlen with one behind the three-point line, while Brady Potaczek scored two points and Anthony Candela scored two. Spencer Booth, meanwhile, scored four points for the Orioles, also split between two separate baskets. Going into the second half the Oriole boys trailed McDonnell 18 to 27, though, and things didn’t get better from there. With McDonnell’s Eddie Mittermeyer scoring three points and teammate Tanner Opsal scoring two, the high scorer on the McDonnell team was number 5 Jake Siegenthaler, who came away with ten points in the second half to supplement five in the first, for a total of 15 points for the McDonnell team. Returning two days back to the game against Thorp, the high score tally for the Oriole boys went to number Brady Potaczek, who came away with 18 of the 55 team points spread between halves at Cardinal headquarters. Next up: Altoona!
