The Oriole boys varsity met Regis at Stanley-Boyd Dec. 30, coming away with a 57-75 final score in the Rambler’s favor. The loss brings the team record so far this year to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in conference. Orioles boys varsity head basketball coach Dakota Nichols shared more on how things had went Dec. 30.
“We committed 20 turnovers and had difficulty handling their full-court pressure, which proved to be the difference in the game,” he said. “Despite the loss, we executed well in the half court, getting the ball inside consistently and using our size to our advantage. We will make adjustments and look forward to playing them again on January 23rd.”
The team last defeated Regis with a 58-43 win on Jan. 16 of last year.
Among Oriole point leaders against Regis Dec. 30 were Charlie Hoel with 22 points and 12 rebounds, Josiah Demske with 10 points and 11 rebounds, and Brenner Myers with 16 points and two assists.
Now with a 7-1 overall record and ranked third in conference, the Orioles play Stratford at Stratford High School on Thursday, Jan. 8. Game start is 7:00 p.m.
